Soul Assembly

This super-crew of Melbourne’s soul heavyweights take listeners on a trip to visit the elders of roots and soul – think Otis, Etta, Stevie, Bill, Donny, Curtis etc - respectfully fusing these flavours with the new school sounds – D’Angelo, Jill Scott, Childish Gambino, Anderson Paak and friends - to bring new flavours to both classic and obscure soul, funk and RnB, whilst exploring exciting new directions in soulful grooves.

Soul Assembly in full flight is a 5 piece rhythm section with 3 vocals and 3 horns with an improvisational approach to grooves creating a dynamic onstage scene and fuelling the dancefloor. The size of this collective is flexible and even a more compact version still guarantees to present the sophistication of the hippest sounds around.

Featuring members of Jimmy and Mahalia Barnes’ band; Deep Street Soul; Melbourne Ska Orchestra; Kylie Auldist band; Teskey Brothers; Fulton Street; Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir and more... this is indeed a Soul Assembly.
