When the lights go down, the wigs, tracksuits and sequins come on and enter... DJ Shanita Vice! Ms Vice plays vinyl 7” singles spanning multiple genres from the late 70s thru the 80s to the early 90s.
Shanita loves to build a vibe and get a crowd dancing but can also play more background, downtempo music, bringing her extensive collection of singles and playing vinyl only, for those true retro vibes.
Eras covered include:
- 80’s classics from Madonna, Wham, Pointer Sisters, Prince, Bananarama, Tears for Fears etc as well as one hit wonders like Sunglasses at Night, Everybody Wang Chung etc.
- 80s New Wave eg Blondie, Duran Duran, Talking Heads, New Order, Frankie goes to Hollywood as well as New Romantic Favourites like Ultravox, Soft Cell, Talk Talk, Psychedelic Furs…
- a bunch of awesome early hiphop and rap like Beastie Boys, Tone Lōc, Young MC, Run DMC, De La Soul
- heavier pop/rock sing-alongs with big hits from Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Pat Benatar, The Bangles, GnR but also more bohemian rock like Fleetwood Mac or classic David Bowie cuts.
- Shanita's specialist area would be late 70s/early 80s disco, boogie, funk, soul and RnB and she can sit in here for a whole set if desired: eg Rick James, Cameo, Patrice Rushen, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Grace Jones, Chic, Taste of Honey, Kool and the Gang, SOS Band…. as well as notables Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and Chaka Khan.
